Originally established in 2005, the Social Work Programme has been growing steadily in terms of students and academic performance. It has been a member of European Association of Schools of Social Work executive committee since June 2017. It is also a member of the International Association of Schools of Social Work.Many of its faculty members have been participating in editorial boards of international social work journals, are members of European forums, and they also show an extensive portfolio in research and training of professionals in the field of migration, mental health, ageing and school social work. The programme has also developed international links through the Erasmus programmes.
