Frederick University is an energetic and vibrant private university operating in the Republic of Cyprus, a member state of the European Union. Frederick University was established after a decision by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus on 12th September 2007. Although the establishment of the University is relatively recent, the organisation has a long history of more than 50 years in higher education. Frederick University operates from two campuses, the main campus in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus and the other campus in Limassol, the second largest city.
The PhD in Electrical Engineering is primarily a research-oriented program offered by the Department of Electrical Engineering. It provides a framework for pioneering research in the various areas of Electrical Engineering. The Program is central to fulfilling the mission of the University through advancing its research dimension, and enabling its establishment in the regional and international scene.The aims of the Program are (a) pursue research and advance the boundaries of knowledge by creating and disseminate new knowledge, and (b) develop engineers with the necessary background knowledge, skills, experience, ethos, and capabilities that will enable them to contribute in the advancement of knowledge, and serve the overall development of the society.
Admission to the program is possible after the announcement of doctoral positions by the Department, followed by an application by the interested applicant. Eligible applicants must hold a recognized university degree, which can be judged as equivalent to a University degree by the Cyprus Council for Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications. Applicants who do not hold their first degree at the time of application, but will hold such a degree before the commencement of the doctoral program, are also eligible to apply for admission.
Each application for admission should include:
A completed application form.
A Curriculum Vitae indicating the student’s education, academic and research experience, any publications, awards, etc.
At least two letters of recommendation from academic or professional advisors.
Certified copies of all relevant degrees and transcripts.
Copies of any other supporting material, such as exams, honors, awards, etc.
