University of Cyprus aims to establish itself as a Pioneer Research Institution achieving International Scientific Recognition in European Higher Education, offering Competitive Programmes and to become a Centre of Excellence in the wider Euro - Mediterranean Region.
The M.A. programme comprises the following:I. Taught CoursesII. Independent Study, Seminars, ConferencesIII. M.A. DissertationStudents are required to successfully complete all threeparts of the programme. Following admission to the M.A.programme, students must choose a specializationdirection, either International Relations or EuropeanPolitics.Specifically, 60% of credit units will be comprised of eightcourses (66.6% of these courses will be compulsory and33.3% will be courses of the student’s choice); 10% ofcredit units will be allocated to departmental researchseminars/conferences and the completion of anindependent study (description, critical analysis andassessment) based on a lecture, recommendation orroundtable; the final 30% of credit units will be allocatedto the completion of the dissertation.
(a) Candidates for the M.A. programme should be
graduates of an accredited university department,
holding a degree in Political Science or a relevant field.
(b) Graduates of Greek universities or the University of
Cyprus should normally have a grade of 7.0 or higher.
The equivalent grade is required from candidatesgraduates of other universities.
(c) The programme is taught in Greek; however, the
dissertation and other academic essays may be written
in English or another language, with the permission of
the student’s supervisor and the M.A. coordinator.
(d) A good knowledge of the English language isrequired.
The knowledge of an additional foreign language will
be considered as an extra qualification.
(e) The Departmental Council, upon recommendations
from the Postgraduate Studies Committee, makes the
final decisions on candidates’ admission to the
programme.
(f) The Programme Committee will determine whether a
candidate must undergo an interview or/and a written
examination, even if all entry requirements are satisfied.
(g) Each year a total of 20 candidates will be admitted to
the programme (10 in each specialization).
